1 John West was born in Pensacola Fl., was adopted as an infant, and grew up in DeFuniak Springs Fl, with his adoptive mother. His adoptive father passed away when John was almost three. John served in the U.S. Air Force, including duty in Viet Nam, and later served in the Air Force Reserve (433rd), for a combined career of thirty years. His civilian job was with American Airlines, handling cargo at the San Antonio Airport cargo terminal, also for more that thirty years. John was married to Rose Marie, a career employee of USAA, for near half a century. Together, they enjoyed raising their daughter, traveling and bowling, and they were long time members of Trinity Baptist Church. They also helped raise their grandson, and they cared for Rosie's mom in her later years, in their home. John had a long, story-filled affiliation with the Boy Scouts of America, taking Scoutmaster duties for Troop 13 for some 25 years, and then Troop 186. Both troops produced many Eagle Scouts, and John earned much high praise and recognition in the Alamo Area Council, to include the prestigious Silver Beaver Award. John was survived by his daughter and her husband, and two grandchildren. John had many life-long friends from the Air Force, from American Airlines, and from the Boy Scouts. He is missed.

2 Franklin Ernest Leitner was born at home in Geiger Precinct, in Northwest Marion County to Benjamin Franklin and Mary Catherine Conner Leitner on 22 January 1917. He was their youngest child and only son. Welcoming their new baby brother was Alma Kathleen, Caro Elizabeth and Mary Bernice who was the first one to arrive that day.

The twins grew up in a farming community of Shiloh. The area that would eventually become Shiloh was first visited by members of Geiger family as early as the mid-1830s and became the home of his Great Grandmother Mary Nunnemaker Geiger and her children in the mid-1800s. The pioneering spirit was common in the family as his Great Grandparents Jacob and Charlotte Souter Leitner came to Florida in the 1850s and settled in the area that became the town of Anthony.

Ernest at the age of four started school at Shiloh and this two-room school house still stands just west of the Shiloh Cemetery. He then attended the McIntosh School and graduated from Reddick High School Class of 1936. All of his children and grandchildren attended and graduated from the same school that he did which had become North Marion High School.

Giving back to the community has always been a big part of his life. At the age of 17 he learned how to play the piano under Miss Lois Dickson of McIntosh who also taught his children and many of his nieces and nephews. After one year of lessons, he because the pianist and later organist for the Shiloh Methodist Church which was founded in 1880 by his Great-Grandmother Geiger and other family members where he was a life-long member. For over 60 years he was most always sitting at the keyboard of the piano or organ every Sunday Morning. He also served as a Church Trustee. He was in charge of the Shiloh Cemetery for many, many years but as his health declined he turned his duties over reluctantly to his youngest daughter to carry on the tradition of looking over the past generations and our family heritage.

His passion for plants and flowers, especially camellias continued throughout his life. Through the years he and his family have collected over 500 different camellia varieties and species. His philosophy was: if the plant had a bloom it was allowed to live and thrive. He was the happiest when he was working with his plants and he enjoyed them the most when he was able to share the blossoms with others to enjoy. He was also a collector especially of music and books on all subjects.

During World War II, he served his country as did many of his ancestors prior to and after him in every war and conflict since the American Revolution and just recently his Grandson Mark. His tour with the US Army's 681st Ordnance Ammunition Company took him to Italy and North Africa. While in Italy he rung the bells in the Leaning Tower of Pisa and met Pope Pius XVI.

On 20 July 1947 in the Flemington Baptist Church he married Esther Smoak in the church that her Grandfather Smoak helped establish and on the Wedding Anniversary of her Grandparents Hornbeak. His 10 year old niece Inez played the Wedding March. After a honeymoon to St. Augustine they moved into their home in Shiloh next door to his parents. They had three children: Nancy, David Ernest, and Annabelle. This year they quietly celebrated their 56th anniversary.

Throughout the years Ernest farmed and sharecropped raising primarily vegetables. He also worked as a Clerk at the Zetrouer Cash Store and later at Sperry Rand Corporation and Florida Farm Bureau State Headquarters, retiring from both as the Print Shop Manager. He served for many years as the Deputy for Flemington-Shiloh Voting Precinct for the Marion County Supervisor of Elections Office.

As the years passed Ernest continued his work for the church and was most often seen by those who passed by working with his plants and flowers until he was no longer able to do so. He was always there to watch over his Grandchildren, Jennifer, Mark and Robert as they where growing up and helping them with their 4-H garden and sheep projects.

Saturday, 16 August 2003 at his home in Shiloh which was originally the home of his Great Uncle David Luther Geiger, saw the end of an era, leaving behind the present and future generations of his family to carry on his legacy of community service, love of plants, the working of the land and family.

Ernest is survived by his wife of 56 years, Esther Smoak Leitner. His two daughters, Nancy Leitner and Annabelle Leitner. His Grand-daughter Jennifer Leitner Perry and her husband Jason Perry, and two Grandsons John Mark Leitner and Robert Ernest Leitner. His sister: Caro Leitner Hare and twin sister, Bernice Leitner Yawn. Nieces and Nephews: John and Naomi Baird Hare, Dick and Inez Hare Crowley, Leverne and Margaret Nichols Terry, Elmer and Judy Trahan Yawn, Anthony and Clara Nell Yawn Clegorne, Mary Beth Yawn, Bob and Georgia Faye Smoak Morrison, Chuck and Lauren Cornwell Smoak. First Cousins: Eula Zetrouer McInnis, Annie Leitner Grant, Josie Leitner Dunker, Louise Leitner Harris, Eloise Conner Corley, Ruby Conner Sox, Doris Conner Corley, Edgar Conner and James C. Geiger. His constant companions, the Grandfurs: Bartholomew, Sebastian, Alexander, Andrew Jackson and Snowball. Along with numerous Great and Great-Great Nieces and Nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his son David Ernest Leitner (9 November 1991), his oldest sister Alma Kathleen Leitner Terry (18 December 1960), his parents Mary Catherine Conner Leitner (28 February 1969) and Benjamin Franklin Leitner (7 September 1976) and a niece Christian Dianne Smoak (13 September 1985). 3 JACOB PRIESTER (1800-186?) is believed to have been the youngest of four sons of JOHN PRIESTER (b.a. 1755 - d.a. 1815), probably the second son of NICHOLAS PRIESTER immigrated to South Carolina in 1749. Although census data is the primary source of information, 1825 Tax Records indicate that JACOB and his brothers, ANDREW and GEORGE, each paid eight and one-fourth dollars on their 125 acre tracts of land in the Jackson's Branch area of Prince William's Parish in the Beaufort District.

The 1830 Census showed JACOB and his wife with one son and two daughters, all born between 1825 and 1830. The son apparently died during the 1830's because in 1840 there was one son under five years, and five daughters. This son would have been JACOB R., born July 14, 1838 --- a Civil War veteran wounded in the Battle of Atlanta. The two older daughters were not mentioned in the 1850 census - they were probably married by then. Another son, WILLIAM, died of wounds received in a battle at Dalton, Georgia in 1864. WILLIAM's twin sister, ELLEN, was mentioned only in the 1850 Census. She evidently died during the 1850's, or was married by 1860.

Of JACOB's children, the descendants of only two are known: Mahala (1832) who married WILLIAM F.PRIESTER, a son of ANDREW, and shown in the ANDREW line; and JACOB R., who is shown in this chapter. (JACOB R., his wife, his six sons, and their wives, except the second wife of BEN, were buried at Hickory Grove Baptist Church.) JACOB was not listed in the 1870 Census and is assumed to have died during the 1860's.

Ambrose Proctor (1) the son of John Nicholas Proctor and Alice Gray had several brothers, John Proctor the Ancient Planter that Arrived at Jamestown, James City Co., VA 1611 on Salvage Barge of the SS SeaVenture and later moved to Surry Co., VA. after 1622. Joshua Proctor whom Arrived Jamestown, VA. On Feb 1619 on the Ship SS Gift of God. Thomas Proctor Arrived Jamestown 1623 on the Ship SS Mary Providence. Thomas Proctor was a wealthy London merchant. His will was dated 1634 in England and named his wife Jane and Son Samuel Proctor. His Will was published in the Virginia Magazine of History and Biography, Richmond Va., July 1904 Vol. 12, Issue 1. Anthony Proctor Arrived Upper Norfolk Co., VA., on the Ship SS Assurance. The lines of Ambrose, Joshua, and John Proctor survived and flourished in the New World. This is our earliest know Forefather Ambrose Proctor of Isle of Wight Co., Virginia.
He arrived in Virginia in 1637.

Shadrack was born in Edgecombe County, N.C. He moved to South Carolina but returned to North Carolina where he died in Edgecombe County, N.C.

Farmers by occupation.

Will of father, JOHN PROCTOR, dated Dec. 21,1761, probated February Court 1772 Edgecombe County, North Carolina. Gives manor plantation to Ann, makes her Extx. Plantation plus additional 200 acres to son Moses. John (Jr) gets the land adjoing Jesse Flowers and Arthur Williams. Shadrack gets 175 acres adjoining John Jr's. Aaron gets 100 acres"where Jacob Brake lived", the other half of the 200 acre Brake tract going to Samson. One daughter mentioned, Patience Jones, who gets 5 shillings sterling. Exr: John Morris, witnesses: Mary Morris, Deberiah Mate. p. 362, will of John Williams, March 14, 1792, Aug Ct. 1793, Edgecombe County. Leaves "178 acre tract purchased of Shadrack Proctor" to his daughter Betsey Williams. Shadrack Proctor is not listed as a head of household in 1790 Census for Edgecombe County.

There is a Shadarick Proctor listed in Wilmington District, Onslow County. Family: One free white male age 16 and upwards; three free white males under 16. Three free white females (one wife + 2 daus?), no slaves. Since this is considerably south of Edgecombe, and since he apparently sold his land to John Williams by 1792.There is no Shadrack listed on 1810 Census Index for North Carolina (AIS).

To proceed now with the genealogy from Whitley Coker to the present. From
the James Myers Coker Family Bible we have that Whitley Coker, Junior,
was born September25,1783, and died January 1, 1832. The Family Bible
also gives us that Whitley, Jr. married Ann Ingram. These facts are
confirmed by census records, estate papers and other documents. Whitley,
Jr., and Ann had at least nine children. These were

Whitley Coker, Jr., died intestate, and for unknown reasons the family
waited a number of years before filing for administration of the estate.
Widow Ann Coker was appointed as Administrix and annual returns were
filed by her until her death around 1849. William D. Coker then sued for
division of the estate which was accomplished in 1851. William D. Coker
is buried at the old cemetery site near Puddin Swamp along with several
other family members. Sadly, I've been told
that some headstones were destroyed, so we may never know the names of
all those buried there.
As for Whitley and Ann Coker's children's marriages, we know that
Magdalen married a Solomon McClam; Leanorah Ann wed Ervin McBride Smith;
John married P.M. Scurry; William married (1) Hazeltine, and (2) S.A.G.
(Gibbons?), and my ancestor, James M. Coker wed Susan Ann Buddin. Susan
Ann Buddin (b. May 30 1834, died Jan. 2, 1909) was the daughter of
William Buddin andMartha McIntosh, also of Sumter District, S.C. The
said William Buddin was descended from John Buddin and Elizabeth
Robinson, known to have been in SouthCarolina by 1720.

Martha Ann Dillion Proctor lived to the age of 62 years. She was helping
her son, Alfred and his wife, Ophelia, nurse their children through the
measles, when she took the disease and died.

In 1857, John and Martha Ann moved from Little Rock, South Carolina to Ocala, Florida. They lived in Eureka on the eastern part of Marion County before moving to Pedro, which is near Summerfield, Florida, near the Sumter- Marion County boundry.

In 1862, John Proctor enlisted in Capt. JacobC. Eichelberger's
Company K, 9th Regiment, Florida Infantry, CSA. He was wounded February
20, 1864 in the battle of Olustee. He mustered out April 26, 1865.

John Proctor was a registrant on the Florida Voter Registration
Lists 1867-68. He had voter number 65 in Precinct 8, registering on Aug
17. He had been in the state of Florida and in Marion County 9 years. PROCTOR, John D. (I244)

A TRIBUTE TO SUE PROCTOR CONNELL

Cousin Sue has always been a part of my life. Since my earliest recollection I have basked in her sweet smile and even sweeter voice. She visited often with a very favorite Aunt, Zada Proctor Priest, way out in the country near Anthony, Fla.
Later we would visit her In Ocala where I became aware that she was a very inspired seamstress, "My hands fairly 'itch' to get back to sewing when I've been away from it for a while", she said.
This accomplishment impressed me greatly because fine sewing was impossible for me and having to please the fickle public seemed highly unlikely (can you Imagine sewing a party dress or a wedding gown?)
I doubt that Sue has missed many Leitner-Proctor reunions in the many years of it's existence. Her 81 years rest lightly Upon her shoulders and we wish for her many, many more. Her appreciative first cousin (once removed)

43 Alda Rae Crisp Hall, 89, of Marvell, Arkansas passed away Saturday, September 24, 2011 in Helena Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Hall was born to Aileen Griffin Crisp and Floyd Cameron Crisp on October 3, 1921 in Connel's Point, Arkansas.

She was a member of the Marvell First Baptist Church.

She leaves 2 sons. John Mac and Linda Hall of Hot Springs and Samuel Pointer and Brenda Hall of Marvell; five grandchildren; seven grandchildren and one brother, Floyd Cameron Crisp, Jr.

Graveside services will be 4:00 P. M. Tuesday September 27, 2011 at the Turner Cemetery, Rev. Marcus Rogers will officiate, assisted by Bro. J. E. Hughes. Crisp, Alda Rae (I4515)

44 Alma and Ralph fell in love when he came to Florida with his parents because of his mothers's health. After his mother died, Ralph moved away with his family. Alma and Ralph corresponded, and Alma eventually convinced Ralph to return to Florida. Donna Hackett has copies of some of Alma's love letters to Ralph.

Alma died ten days after giving birth to their fifth child. After Linda's birth, doctors performed a hysterectomy and an appendectomy. Neither surgery was required for medical reasons. The surgeon apparently perforated her intestine during the operation, and Alma developed peritonitis, an inflammation of the membrane that lines the abdominal cavity and the abdominal organs. Alma died a very painful death. Penicillin, an antibiotic that could have saved Alma's life, did not become widely available until a few years after her death. PROCTOR, Alma Gertrude (I93)

48 Angie Marie Mills, 99, passed away December 6, 2017. Born on June 16, 1918 in Summerfield, FL to James D. and Emma C. Proctor. Marie lived in Summerfield all of her life and was a dedicated wife, mother, and friend. Marie was an active member of the First Baptist Church, Summerfield for many years. She served the Lord including being in charge of the nursery and Cradle Roll, visitation, teaching Sunday School, sunbeams and active in WMU.
She raised beef cattle although, she loved them as if they were her pets. She loved to garden and can vegetables, make jellies and bake. She was an accomplished seamtress. PROCTOR, Angie Marie (I110)
